Still No New Comics But

December 19, 2013

I have two long-term announcements about two long-distance events. The first is that I am teaching a workshop at SAW in Gainesville, Florida this March. I am very excited as I’ve always wanted to go to Florida. I am hoping to see an alligator. It will be a class about drawing autobiographical comics and diary comics. Or rather about turning your life into a diary and then into autobiography. Perhaps we’ll do comics about seeing alligators.

Screen-Shot-2013-07-28-at-10.23.27-PMThe second is all the way in May and in far off Toronto, Canada, but I am so excited to be invited as special guest at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival, to debut my new collection, whose name I recently changed to Truth is Fragmentary: Travelogues & Diaries.  I’m especially excited because the other guests are all artists who I admire a great deal, and because one of them is Lynn Johnston! I grew up on For Better or For Worse.

Not Comicumentiary (yet)

November 4, 2013

I know what you are thinking: “Where’s the Colombia diaries?! And what about Siberia!? Does she have any upcoming events?! What is Gabrielle up to now?!”

-The Colombia chronicles are still in production, but I’ve decided not to post them until it’s completely finished. It is a project that I would like to handle delicately. It is also nineteen pages.

-Siberia will follow.

-This Wednesday I will have a comic about polar bears in a reception at the Adam Baumgold gallery. I am not officially on the flyer but I’ve been assured that my piece will hang alongside these great artists’ works, so I took the liberty to sign myself in (also check out their facebook page and invite for further proof):

-This Saturday I will be at Comic Arts Brooklyn, hanging around the Uncivilized Books table. Check out the great line-up of special guests. Then come say hi to me.

-On Wednesday, November 13th, I’ll be discussing comics with Lisa Hanawalt & Dash Shaw for the semester’s final Comics@Columbia event. It is free and open to the public. Here is the facebook invite, if you are on that, and here is the flyer:

-Lastly, check out Tony’s latest videocomic, from this comic:
