November 30, 2010
By the way, this coming Saturday I’ll be at the Brooklyn Comics and Graphics Festival with many exciting and major talents, including Tom K of Uncivilized books, with copies of minis L.A. Diary and the new collection simply titled Diary. I’ll have some original Lucky art for sale cheap. Stop by, admission is free and there’s so much great stuff to see: (275 North 8th street in Williamsburg, Saturday, December 4th, 12 to 9)

I love panel 3 and 7 in particular. I’ve been to parties in NYC as depicted in panel 6–dead of summer, no air conditioning. Everyone went up to the roof.
Or you go up on the roof as the water’s rising
“Small party,” huh? ;)
Yes, very small. That panel is actual size!
I mean, it was drawn to scale!
Hello Gabrielle!
Your work is beautiful, poetic and true to life and I am really happy that you are posting here, in full color. I have a copy of Lucky Volume Two Number One and it is one of my most cherished books.
And you have lots of friends considering the party…
Party panel, very short inventory :
– Two lovers
– Two dancers
– Two strugglers
– Three dogs playing cards (for money, more than probably)
Panel 4 is my favourite.
but Stephane, you didn’t mention the window!
hi gabrielle,
I have been reading this blog for a while because I liked the lucky books.
This post is my all time favourite because of the two “slanted waterfront” panels.
:o)

Thanks so much to all of you for the kind words!
Bravo! Very nicely done! :)
love love this one! i live in somewhere where i can afford to have a few more rooms so panels 1 and 2 would have more boxes and more shit but the feeling is EXACTLY the same. unfortunately more space does not equal better buoyancy.
best, abbey
p.s. i splurged on a HARD COPY of ny stories. i never buy hard copies. never ever ever.
I am glad to hear that very much
you forgot to mention your vampire lair.
xo p
Ah yes, the vampire lair. I didn’t draw the weird metal door that is in my kitchen that leads to pretty much nowhere. Or into my neighbors’ apartment. Or into a vampire’s lair.
I enjoyed the overheads
That’s really nice. The inventory is great, this is what comics can do. You’ll probably laugh, but your stuff reminds me of Jack Kirby, in the completeness of the little spaces you construct on the page.
Indeed, I did not mention it.
But be sure I’ve noticed it.
