Hello
This is the last comic in Julys month of daily comics. As promised, I’ve taken it all down. After all the enthusiastic feedback I received from this experiment, it hurt to do it. Especially since I’ve been nominated for an Ignatz Award for the Best Online Comic! But something tells me I have to keep my word on this, just as I kept my word that I’d stick to it in the first place. However, I’m leaving this very last page, not so much for the comic itself but for all the beautiful comments on it. I just can’t throw that away.
I will do this again in the future, or maybe some variation of it, perhaps in a year, if I’ll have the time. I’ve already forgotten how hard it is. And hopefully at some point there will be a 32 page printed comic. In the meantime, I’m taking some time away from this blog to finish up some projects. I will be back in the fall with new comics for you to read. Which is, in fact, just around the corner.
I really want to thank all of you who commented or emailed encouraging words, or clicked “like” or retweeted or even read it at all. Sorry for not replying most of the time, but they were immensely helpful, it felt like being cheered on.
Amazing series Gabrielle. I know how frustrating it’s been, but I for one, enjoyed it immensely. You did do it all just to entertain me, right?
*Applause*
Congratulations on making it to the finishing line, Gabrielle. The strips have been fun to read, and I’ll miss ’em.
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Big congrats on finishing your experiment (I, personally, would have wimped out and picked a month with 28 days)! Thanks for so many great comics, Gabrielle. I’m already looking forward to when you start posting again.
And you know, maybe Tony doesn’t want to APPEAR in comics where you do those things. But you should draw whatever you feel like.
I loved getting your comics every day! Funny that you felt like you were running out of material – every day felt fresh to me.
I’ll miss reading the comics everyday… Whenever a new one hit my google reader, I was like YEY! \o/ I hope you take a good rest, I wonder how much tiring this experiment should have been…
“Following strangers into bars…” Brilliant!
Thanks for the month-long trip – it was great fun for us, even if it was exhausting for you.
Bravo.!!! (*clapping) Well done, your triumph of will is always inspirational.
It was an interesting and FUN month! Thank you for your beautiful work.
Hooray! Hooray!!!
Congrats on making it to the finish line! Your comics never seemed forced or desperate, even if you feel that way. They’re consistently well-done and interesting. You worked your ass off, and the way I see it, it was worth it. I also want to say that you have some very good friends, even if they are “lunatics.” :P I wish I had such a network of support! I hope your future comic-making endeavors go well. You are a source of inspiration for me, and I appreciate the work you do.
TL;DR:
ggggooOOOO GABRIELLE!!
applause, applause, applause!
well done!
and by the way, I love the 4th panel.
These have been awesome!! It’s been a good month. Thanks!
Big fan of you! Loved it!
This was great! We’re all very lucky to have read along. Too bad for all those suckers that will miss out, but I’ll tweet it, so there are at least a few less!
i came here to complain about tony’s advice but all the applause and good wishes changed my mind.
Wow, thanks everybody! Feels so worthwhile. I do it for you.
These were all fantastic, it made July a lot better.
Well done !
I liked the way how you ended it .
Everything, all in one go. Well done. On to the next thing…
thank you for this excellent month, so perfectly ended !
Great series, very inspiring! Thank you!
I don’t have much to say that hasn’t been said above but wanted you to know how much I’ve enjoyed this series.
Great ending to an amazing body of work.
You should do a book of Groutsisisms and call it “Tony Says”
Fantastic, inspring, funny, educational (I learned that the Cosby brownstone isn’t actually in Brooklyn Heights!), wonderful and top-notch all around. Thank you!
As sad as I am that I won’t get to read these anymore, what a great ending! Thanks for the month-long treat.
Reading your daily comics was like watching you win the Tour de France from the backseat of a tandem bike… thanks for the sweet ride!
Gabrielle,
I just found out about these daily diary comics today and read all of them in one shot. They are fantastic. Introspective, intimate and quite charming (in the best way). I have enjoyed your work in the past and continue to look forward to more. I appreciate the sheer athleticism involved in this undertaking, and as a reader I’m grateful for your effort.
Oh Gabrielle, I will miss them! I admire your work so much. Great stuff.
As for Tony, as much as I like it when he appears in your comics, DON”T LISTEN TO HIM!
I love comics about making comics and about complaining. These are a few of my favourite things.
By the way, your description of the cyclical process of posting your comics is hilarious and something I can relate to. Ahh the law of eternal recurrence.
I hope during your post-comics vacation you don’t eat too many more volcanoes! And how will we know? Anything might happen!
interestingly, this was my introduction to your work — a friend passed along the link, and i’m so glad she did.
i loved this project, and now i will definitely check out more of your comics. you are so talented, and it’s amazing that this was difficult for you, as to the reader (at least this one), it seemed effortless.
huzzahhh!!!!
Hi! Good ending! Later, H.
I was away for most of July so hadn’t checked your blog for ages and this is what I find! A treasure trove! I’ve just read them all in one sitting and it’s been a great pleasure. I love your work. Hope you try the experiment again some day!
Wow, amazing
