Big July Diary Post

August 2, 2019
This is the first year I wasn’t able to meet my own challenge of one comic per day in July. I’m so glad I gave up so early, though. I’d have made myself miserable and been difficult to be around, once again. Instead, I really enjoyed making the comics I did do, and I was really involved in the actual life around me.
I’ve been out in the mountains in Northern California for the past month, with limited internet access, and have only been able to post these on Instagram (@ms.gabriellebell), but now I’m compiling them up here for you, in case Insta is not your thing. I’ll keep working on and posting this series as I go along, now that I’m back in civilization.
Oh-I forgot to mention-if you’re wondering why it’s so messy, it’s because I’ve been drawing with my left hand, to rest the RSI in my drawing arm, but also because it’s become a fun challenge.

hi Gabrielle, I absolutely love this, you are so awesome.

I’ve this year unplugged from having a mobile phone, a computer and a now off social media. I just have my website and a landline. I borrow other people’s computers or use my mum’s who lives next door if I need to. It is so awesome and I kind of wonder how I ever coped with technology. In fact I didn’t. I’m so much happier! I realise how much we are all brainwashed to think that we need it. I don’t care if I’m committing career suicide not being on Instagram, I’m happier for it.

I had a private phone session with Tom hart last week and it was so so helpful as I’m working on my first graphic novel after making 7 comics and Zines.
He’s such a beautiful guy with so much knowledge.

Anyway, my comics, they’ve all gone pretty well, one of them was shortlisted for an Australian comic award.

Anyway, thanks for your help a couple years ago in the early days you probably don’t remember me, I live in a seaside town in Australia. You’re always welcome to come and stay. No I’m not crazy.

    love, Holly
