I just read “The Voyeurs.” Hoo! You do beautiful comics. I mean it.
After reading “The Voyeurs”:
I’m impressed how sensible you are transmitting emotions and social situations, with just some drawings and words. Though quite often, they tend to be a bit sad…
You’re searching for the sense of life, for the long-time answers – and (no wonder) they are quite complicated and tend to disappear, when you try to get close to them.
I really enjoyed Lucky. I stumbled upon it in Bergen Comics and it was the first time I knew you even existed. I’m looking forward to reading your other stuff.
Hi Gabrielle, You should check out this guys, the have a very nice drawing style. http://www.federico-gutierrez.com and Cecilia Beaven http://www.ceciliabeaven.com
dear gabrielle, I bought the voyeurs for my brother as a christmas present. before given it to him, I read it yesterday. I was so impressed and happy about your book. thank you very much.
Hi how are you?
I just got your book “truth is fragmentary” at the Mn comicon. And the inset hooked me, then I researched more of your work and you’ve been doing a lot of biography comic work :). I have dabbled in journaling a lot in my life and can make it poetic at times. I guess I’m just giving you praise in the hopes that you could help me with my comic writing process. I want to capture my last year of life for posterity and am wondering about your process. Maybe you will see this tonight maybe not. I have some panels created an artist working on things a premise and my own weird brain which remembers EVERY thing unfortunately. I might have a chance to return to the fairgrounds Sunday the 18th will you be there to talk???
Awaiting moderation. It’s probably a good thing and it should probably be deleted it’s creepy, I didn’t realize this comment would be on your website for all time, and I honestly wanted some insight …, How about this for a comment to use ” I just picked up your new book fragmented truths and really dig the realism and the minimalistic yet productive artwork. The writing is amazing and massages my brain with wit, sarcasm, and blatant honesty, thank you for sharing a cool story!”
Gabrielle– I just read the bit of an interview with you about being an introvert and your struggles with it. Thank you! I’m an old sixties retread small time cartoonist who has struggled with that thing ALL MY LIFE. I have even lost jobs because after a while I could not stand being with others. After a while the walls started closing in even though I always did well at my tasks. Anyway, I’m in my sixties now and have written some kids picture books. I still spend most of my time alone and sometimes it seems that I am some sort of weirdo. Your interview gave me much comfort. Thanks again. And please keep working. It warms my heart to see your work.
Thank you. I’m glad to read this.
Je suis presѕé de lire uun autre poste
We had the chance my wife and I to read some of your books, a great comic shop in Brooklyn rightly advised us.
Have your books been translated in French?
Thank you. I have Cecil & Jordan a New York translated in French. C’est tout!
Great I am sure you will be a great success in France. If you ever need some assistance at the publishing phase, we will be happy my wife and I to do what we can.
We are not in the publishing business but have plenty of friends who are involved.
Thanks for your sharp and very enjoyable stories.
I’m reading Truth is Fragmentary right now and it’s blowing my mind. I’ve been a fan of yours for years, you’ve been a big inspiration to my art, but reading these journal comics is giving me the shivers….I’ve never read anything that so clearly expressed the way I feel inside all the time. The constant need to be alone, the contradictory loneliness, the feeling that no one else is like you, the anxiety of every day interactions, the way other people don’t get it…wow. It brings me to tears just to know that anyone else feels this way, let alone my favorite comic artist. Just wanted to let you know that I truly admire you in every way. Thank you for publishing this beautiful insight into your life,
Been binge-reading your work. So great.
Hey, too bad for me that I lost your comic of me, your friendly upstairs ‘jock’ from Mission Street. I knew you’d be successful! Duck your dumb roommates except gabe!
